Need Someone to Talk With?

You may know me by name or you may not, but I am a good listener! I have been in religious work long enough to know that both clergy and laypersons have issues that they would like to discuss with someone. Often the minister cannot speak with those who employ him or her and laity often do not speak easily with the minister, so both suffer in silence. Added to these are those who have no affiliation with any religion. With whom do they talk when they have issues that are difficult to deal with? My ears are open to you!

I have been a friend to numerous people all these years and it pains me to realize that many long to be heard but cannot find a listening ear. If you fit into one of these categories, please know that I am willing to hear your story and to respond to you with honesty, humility and sincerity. Like you, I have had my share of problems. Early on I tried to go it alone in dealing with them, but they were too heavy for me. Eventually, I cast off my pride and sought out people who were willing to walk with me through the tough times in my life.

I am not presenting myself either as a therapist or a spiritual director, though I have been both for people at different times. I have heard about every story that can be told. I am, however, promising you that I am a good listener and I will listen to you. If you are struggling with an issue in your life, write to me and I will correspond with you. I am not expecting a fee from you. I am offering you help because others have given freely to me when I needed a friend. If our correspondence leads to conversation, I will ask you to make a tax exempt contribution to the larger work in which I am engaged. None of your contribution will come to me personally, but it will help me expand my ministry to others.

No matter how pressing your problems or painful your issues, there is hope for you. You can find a new life and a new way of dealing with your life.
